RESEARCH ACTIVITY | Academic visit to Didi company

To promote the deep integration of industry and strengthen the scientific research and teaching of digital economy, the research team of School of Applied Economics of RUCwent to Didi company for academic research focusing on the development of digital economy on March 23, 2021.The members of the research team are: Jun Huang, Yihua Yu, Wei Pan, Hongxia Zhang, Song Feng, Xiaobin Zhang, Jiansuo Pei, Ying Zheng and Jiaying Cheng, and graduate students.

On March 23, 2021, the faculty and student group of School of Applied Economics of Renmin University of China went to Didi company for academic exchange. To start with, Meng Li, director of Didi Development Research Institute, and YanXue, operation director of general management department shared with the research team the latest Didi Development Research Institute's research results based on massive big data. They indicate that Didi Development Research Institute has recently released a number of research reports including employment, new employment index and China Digital travel economic activity index. First, they introduced the principles and methods of index building. Then, the directors analyzed the time and regional characteristics of the number of trip economic activity. At last, they demonstrated the impact of the covid-19 pneumonia epidemic on the number of trips.

After the report of Didi directors, teachers from the school of Applied Economics RUC, conducted in-depth professional exchanges and discussions combined with their respective research fields with researchers of Didi research institute on the Research Report and related contents, which put forward academic opinions and professional suggestions. During the whole meeting, both parties had profound communication on further promoting and implementing the industry university research cooperation agreement.

This research activity has enhanced the understanding and thinking of both teachers and students on digital economy. The meeting combined integrating theory with practice, which is truly conducive to promoting the construction of new knowledge disciplines.
